MEET THE DESERT

One of the world’s best long distance arid-zone walks.

At the end of July 2018, 19 people experienced the wonder and enormity of the 100km Larapinta Trail.

Spending time with Deanella Mack from Cultural Connections, the participants gained a deep understanding and appreciation for Australia’s red heart and our nation’s ancient culture.

The Larapinta team of 2018 let go of their connection to the familiar, and found strength in themselves and in the people and the land around them.

The four-day, phone-free journey along the rugged spine of the West Macdonnell Ranges where steep ascents are rewarded with cooling waterholes, and winding gorges reveal spectacular ancient rock formations. They trekked under a vast blue sky that transitioned into a breathtaking blanket of stars.

We respect and acknowledge the traditional owners of this land; the Arrernte people.
